5 Tips to Generate Leads on Your Website

With any type of marketing – including online marketing – it takes on average of eight “touches” to turn a prospect into a paying customer. A good website is a great place to start – even if you don’t sell a product or service online because one survey found that 74% of in-store buyers searched online for something in-store-related before making an in-store purchase.

However, 96% of website visitors aren’t ready to make a purchasing decision. So… you need a good SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) strategy to get the right prospects to your website and a good lead generation website to convert those prospects into paying customers.

What is a Lead Generation Website?

A lead generation website is more than a brochure that focuses on your business. It should not only educate visitors on what you offer and how your product or service can help them or solve their problem, but it should also provide opportunities for you to collect leads that you can nurture and guide through the sales funnel.

A lead generation website is customer-focused, easy to navigate, and includes obvious calls to action (CTA). A CTA leads visitors and tells them exactly what step you want them to take next. Common CTAs include “call now,” or “schedule an appointment,” or “download this information.”

Here are five tips to generate leads on your website:

Blogging

According to OptinMonster, “57% of marketers say they’ve gained customers specifically through blogging,” and “B2B marketers who have blogs get 67% more leads than those who don’t.”

Consistently publishing blogs about your business, industry, product, or service on your website drives more traffic to that website, “Websites that also have a blog are shown to have 434% more indexed pages and a 97% increase in indexed links,” according to HubSpot. Each time you publish a blog, a new URL is added to your website, giving search engines like Google new information and an additional reason to include your website on its Search Engine Results Page (SERP) when someone searches that topic.

AND the traffic generated by blogs is likely to be from people interested in your product or service because they searched for related information. You can turn that traffic into leads with lead-generating calls-to-action, such as asking them to provide their email to receive your blogs as soon as they are published.

eBooks

eBooks help show your expertise in specific topics and allow your business to become a trusted source of information. Ask website visitors to provide their email address so you can send them an eBook about a topic related to your product or service. After they receive the eBook, you can continue to nurture those leads with targeted emails.

Videos

Everyone loves to watch videos! According to Statista, in 2020, there were 239 million U.S. digital video viewers with an 83.8% digital video penetration. Provide videos that demo your product, provide tips, include customer testimonials, answer FAQs, explain how to solve a problem, etc., to drive traffic to your website and generate and nurture leads.

Email Marketing

Despite what you may have heard, email marketing is not dead. Forbes stated, “Email marketing still promises to deliver the highest ROI of all marketing channels—$42 back for every dollar you spend.“ Constant Contact reports that 60% of consumers state that they’ve made a purchase as the result of a marketing email.

Email marketing can be a great way to nurture new leads and develop more loyal customers. Offer visitors to your website a discount or a checklist in exchange for their email address, and then begin a series of emails that take them through the sales funnel.

Social Media

According to Pew Research, approximately seven-in-ten Americans use social media (up from just 5% in 2005). It’s where many people spend their time, making it a great lead generation tool that can be used to nurture and convert leads. You can use several strategies to generate leads, such as targeted ads, contests, select calls-to-action, and gated content (content accessed by providing contact information).

You probably already use social media to raise brand awareness, but did you know that you can also retarget social media ads to people who visit your website.
